Yes, it’s true! Tavie started walking today. She has been standing up on her own for a week or so, and the length of time she’s been standing has been getting longer. She has also been practicing pivoting and experimenting moving her body while standing up. This afternoon I walked into the sun room and she was standing in the middle of the floor with a look of concentration on her face. I could tell she was working something out in her head. So, I knelt down and said, “Come here, Tavie,” and I held out my arms and she took 5 steps to me. Of course she was beaming from ear to ear and so very proud of herself. She has been practicing all evening. Tavie has a long attention span and it’s so cool to see her practicing and practicing to get it right.
Here is a picture of her practicing her walking. Not a great picture, but I’ll try to get some better ones tomorrow.
I’m sure Ms. Kira is not far behind, although she has not been practicing much. When Iris was ready to walk she just got up and walked and never crawled again, and she didn’t practice at all. It was very sudden. Perhaps Kira will be the same way.
