Happy 7th birthday my darling Iris!

Iris B.Day 08-1

My lovely daughter is 7 years old! Wow. I can’t believe it. I know all parents are amazed at how quickly children grow up, but I am truly astounded my little baby is 7 years old already. She is getting to be such a little woman. The concepts she is grappling with, the knowledge she is assimilating….it blows my mind.

Her birthday party was a smashing success. Fun was had by all. My only regret is that I was so busy pulling it off that I didn’t get as many pictures as I wanted. But I will post a few of the good ones. Iris’ guests arrived at 4:00 pm and played tag and hide-n-seek for a bit while the pizzas cooked. We had a yummy dinner of pizza, veggies, fruit, and juice. While we cleaned up the girls danced in Iris’ room and the girls who were staying over night brought up their sleeping bags and other gear. Cake and ice cream were of course sugary sweet. Yay for the Tinker Bell cake! After singing “Happy Birthday” & eating we cleaned up and started our craft project. It went really, really well. Thank you god-mama Lisa for all of your help with the craft project. The girls had fun and were so creative! The girls decorated their own hand bags with iron-on decorations, glitter, and fabric glue. When they were dry I filled them with party favors.

Iris B.Day 08-2

After our craft project the girls had a little free time before the big movie event. Everyone loved Peter Pan and the popcorn. The girls settled down beautifully during the movie, except when half of them wanted to watch the babies take their bath. After the movie the girls who were not staying over went home and the overnighters got ready for bed. B and I had to settle the girls down about 46 times before they finally all dozed off-around 11:00ish. All of the girls did beautifully. We did have to call a few moms to say goodnight.

The next morning we decorated pancakes, packed up, and sent the girls home. It was a very successful birthday party. Exhausting for mom, but so much fun for Iris and her little friends. Happy birthday little girl. I’m glad you had fun. Next year, it is a quiet gathering with mom and dad and sisters! This will not be repeated for at least two years. :)
