Kisses for Mother’s Day

May 12th, 2008

I love my husband and children so much I could just bust open. I had the most wonderful Mother’s Day. In the a.m. I went for a run with Iris in tow on her bike. It was a blustery morning and windy so we had a few complaints towards the end of the run, but it was still fun to have her company. When I finished my run B had warm waffles waiting; how glorious. After breakfast we packed up all the kids and did a little running around. We’ve been needing a visit to Penzy’s for some fresh spices for quite some time so we went & stocked up. We were in Uptown so we went to Chang Mai Thai for lunch. The service was incredibly, incredibly slow but the food was terrific.

After lunch we went to Hallas and did our traditional Mother’s Day nursery visit. I got flowers for the urns and some hanging pots for the deck. I also got an iris and another perennial for the yard. After our flower trip we came back home and worked in the yard for a while before grilling dinner. Then bed time for the kids & down time for mom & dad. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was wonderful having B home all day and so great to be together as a family.

Iris made me a beautiful book and card. And Tavie and Kira gave me the gift of kisses for Mother’s Day. Of course, they have known what kisses are for quite some time, but they have never put two and two together and actually gave kisses on demand or even made the correct kissing motions. But on Mom’s day they learned how! So now I get the sweetest kisses when I ask – and even more when I don’t ask. Today Tavie had the cat’s head in a death grip and was giving him kisses on his cute little nose. It was adorable.

On the speaking front we are learning new words like crazy! Let’s see, here is our growing list: mama & dada, soft, shoe, sock, sit, kitty, dog, Dez, done, banana (nana, this word describes all food) & no. Kira starting really walking on Iris’ birthday and they are both practicing their walking quite a bit but crawling is still their main form of perambulation.
