Neat Baby, Messy Baby
It’s amazing how different the twins are, despite the fact that they were born 2 minutes apart and have been raised and nurtured the exact same way. Tavie is more introspective and quiet. She has a longer attention span and can sit and try to figure out a toy for a long time. She is the most affectionate snuggler of a baby I’ve ever encountered. She loves to just sit and hug and touch. She is also neat by nature, unlike my other two children. Exhibit A.
Kira is loud and boisterous. She is a mover and a shaker and constantly into something. She will snuggle once in a while, but mostly she is way too busy for such things. She is more verbal and more adventurous. K is always climbing on something or getting into something. And unlike T, she is definitely not neat. Exhibit B.
When I was pregnant with the twins B and I talked a lot about how we wanted the twins to be different. We didn’t want to dress them identically or put them into some twin identical box. Basically, we didn’t want the same person running around in two different directions. We wanted two different people who were free to be individuals and free to explore life w/out being attached at the hip to their twin. It is important to us that they have a close bond, but that they are able to be independent and self sufficient. Having such different personalities helps and we have not found it difficult to foster their individuality. I think it is just happening naturally because we give them the space to let it unfold.
