Iris has been in San Diego for 5 days and I’ll pick her and her godparents up from the airport tonight. The house has been sooooo quiet since she’s been gone! Wednesday we go to an open house and meet her new 2nd grade teachers. She has two teachers this year – I’m not sure that having to transition mid-week with a new teacher will be that great for Iris but hopefully she will get used to it. She will stay in the same room but two teachers are sharing the room. Right after Labor Day she begins a new school year. I think everyone is ready for her to go back to school :)

The girls are talking up a storm and learning new words every day. Let’s see if I can make a list of some of the recent words: airplane, yellow, red, blue, all kinds of animal sounds, ball, no (understanding the meaning), body parts, tree, flower, thank you…the list goes on but I’m having a brain freeze at the moment.

B and I took the girls to a concert the bike store sponsored in the commons in Excelsior. It was a cool, windy evening, perfect to watch a blues band. We stopped for ice cream on the way home. I am sure Iris would have enjoyed it.

We’ve been replacing some of the dead plants and shrubs in the landscaping that have died off in the last year or two. Last night we went to Halla nursery and bought a few items to replace in the gardens. Slowly we are getting them back into shape. I have a lot of weeding to do as I’ve let this chore get away from me the last month or so. There is always way too much to do.

And finally we went to Valley Fair a week ago. Iris earned a trip to Valley Fair with good behavior so we loaded up all the kids and had a blast. It was a very hot day and my only regret is not getting many pictures! We were just too busy and it was too hot & sunny to think about pictures. Here is one of B and Tavie.
