Well, not really a soiree, but we sure had a lot of fun yesterday celebrating Tavie and Kira’s second birthday. Blayne and I took the girls to Underwater World in the morning. It was a blast, especially since it was a Thursday morning and there were no crowds. Iris went on a school trip last week to Underwater World, so she wasn’t completely crushed that she couldn’t go with us. I think the girls liked the turtles the best. It was great to see them so engaged and curious about the tanks and the fish.
We had a not so great lunch at the Rainforest Cafe then went home for a little R & R before dinner, cake & ice cream, and presents. I made a butterfly cake from scratch but (gasp!) bought frosting. We had a nice family celebration. The girls got trikes and they were very excited about them. It’ll be fun teaching them to ride this summer. I’m sure it won’t take long, but their legs need to get a wee bit longer for them to truly push the bikes.
Here are some pictures of the day. Warning, lots of pictures.
Tavie and daddy.
Looking at the turtles and stingrays.
Kira has the funniest look on her face in this photo. It cracks me up.
A very big, very old turtle.
We were just in time to watch the feeding of the sharks. It was fascinating!
The cake. Iris asked me why I was taking a picture of the cake. She thought it was silly.
Tavie and Kira waiting for their cake, with tomato soup all over their faces.
The whole family, minus mom.
Silly daddy.
opening presents with mommy.
For some reason Iris had to dress up as a ghost for the girls party. Silly Iris.
Our favorite presents….the trikes!
