North Dakota

December 9th, 2009

We spent a week in North Dakota during Thanksgiving break to visit Blayne’s family.  We also had to get out of the house as they were laying carpet and sanding the wood floors.  We had water damage due to a broken waterline to the refrigerator and it’s been a mess of contractors and noise and repairs for the last month and a half.

Let me tell you, riding in the car for 10 hours with four kids, three under the age of three, is definitely chaotic.  It’s an exercise in patience and long lasting ability to be on top of a lot of things for a long time.  Did I mention the trip was long?

My favorite part of the trip was our jaunt to Theodore Roosevelt National Park to visit the Badlands.  We drove one of the loops in the park out of Medore, North Dakota.  It was beautiful to watch the sunset in the stark, windy hills.  The wildlife we saw was amazing.  We saw buffalo, wild horses, prairie dogs, mule deer and white tail deer, elk, owls, what else?  I know I’m missing something.  I thought it was magnificent to see all the animals in their wild nature, especially the horses.

So, here are some pictures from our trip.  I’m getting behind in my blogging again.  We got new iphones and I’ve been an iphone lunatic for the last week.  Time to get back to my regular computer and my blogging again.

We watched the sunset over the Badlands at a beautiful lookout point.

It was windy and cold.  Daddy is trying to keep baby Finn warm.
