The sweater B picked is Smokin’ Jacket by designer Jared Flood. It’s been a quick knit thus far thanks to the Rowan Scottish Tweed Chunky yarn I’m using. B picked a nice charcoal gray color for the yarn. I started the sweater about a week ago and hope to be done in the next week or two. I’m very hopeful at this point that I’ll meet my goal…..I’ll reassess as soon as I start the collar! This is what the finished project will look like, hopefully.

And this is a project I’ve been working on since last winter as well. It is the Lady Eleanor Entrelac Stole. I didn’t find entrelac nearly as difficult as I thought I would so I’m not sure why I have not finished this project yet….I work on it for a few days then I put it down for a few months. It was my goal to finish it this winter….maybe after I’m finished with B’s sweater. And before I start knitting for baby.

And speaking of baby – we’ve begun preparations and nesting has officially begun. The spare bedroom/craft room is cleaned out and ready for a paint job and new trim and new flooring and a new closet. Sounds quite ambitious and I hope it gets finished by June! Because my craft room has been dismantled for the new member of the family we had to get a bunch of shelves and book cases for our bedroom so my craft supplies can have a new home. It is a work in progress getting it all organized, but it is a labor of love as well. I love organizing and having a space to organize things neatly. What a dork. Kira was kind enough to help me put up some shelves this morning. Isn’t she sweet?

And here is Tavie picking out her next knitting project:

I swear I have a huge mental block with Blayne’s sweater. I am having a heck of a time finishing the cable band for the bottom of the sweater. I ripped out half of it because there were a few mistakes. I’ve picked it up umpteen times, only to work on it for a few minutes & put it down again. I have contemplated putting it away until next winter. I have also contemplated finding a pattern I jive with more and using the yarn – but it was difficult enough finding a pattern B liked so I JUST NEED TO FINISH IT. Argh.

13 months. I can’t believe how fast time is flying. I can’t believe how big my girls are getting. Yesterday we moved the car seats to forward facing and today Kira had her first temper tantrum. The babies are not allowed in Iris’ room because of choking hazards and the like. I snuck in a shower this morning and when I came out I found Kira in Iris’ room (her door is supposed to be closed, hmmmm) and she had a marker (she’s not supposed to have markers in her room, hmmmm). When I tried to take the marker away from Kira she freaked. Not just a little freak, but a full blown temper tantrum. Complete with big alligator tears and spitting. I brought her to the twins’ room and tried to do the classic distraction but this time she wasn’t taking the bait. No other toy would assuage her. There was nothing I could do to console her. I just had to let her poop herself out.

Toddlerhood, welcome!

On another note but in the same genre, the sweaters I made for the girls for their 1 year pictures are now too small. So this is my ode to the sweaters that I just love. They are The Tulip Baby Cardigan I got from my LYS Coldwater Collaborative.

After knitting sweaters for all three girls I’m starting one for B. He wants one because his office gets chilly & he thinks it would be nice to have a sweater to keep there. It was difficult to pin down exactly what he wanted because he tends to be a bit picky when it comes to clothes. A bit picky? A LOT picky. I finally found something that wasn’t too froofy that met his approval. He picked a medium/slate gray for the yarn.

The pattern is from Knitty.com and is called Avast

I’ve never done a cable before so I’m finding the cable band at the bottom of the sweater to be a bit of a challenge, but now that I’m getting the hang of it it’s getting easier. Isn’t that just a fact of life. I was able to get a good chunk of the cable pattern done on a road trip to Fargo last week but the going has been slow since. At this rate B won’t get his sweater until we are in the midst of a hot and humid Minnesota summer.

A picture of the cable band, probably not very easy to see & I really should pin it out for a better picture, but here it is nonethless:
