Is here officially – although it’s been a very cold and wet season this year. At least the snow is gone, I don’t have to wear my snowpants for my morning walk anymore, the kids are riding their bikes, and green is busting out all over.
What news of the Puklich family? Finnegan is a talker. An honest to goodness real talker. He is even saying two word sentences like, “lub you” and “Oh no!” and “big truck” (although he can’t really say the t yet and uses an f instead, but we’ll edit that out). He’ll be two in a month and he’s such a big boy. Tavie and Kira are enjoying their little 4 year old lives. They are done with ECFE for the year and will start big girl preschool this coming Fall. Wow! Iris is finishing up 4th grade and looking forward to swimming lessons and other fun activities this summer.
A few weeks ago I brought the three youngest to the Arboretum to hang out in the conservatory for the morning. It’s such a lovely, warm place to go on cold and gloomy days. It’s not a big fancy conservatory like at Como Park, but it’s smallish and quaint and we hardly ever run into other people there. Which I like – the older I get the less and less I like crowds. We had a lovely time, had lunch, and decided to do the three mile loop on our way out. As we were driving slowly and looking at all the beautiful sights Kira says from a quiet reverie, “It’s a big, strange world out there Momma.” I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time, and I probably did. Out of the mouths of babes.
And then there is Iris. In my attempt to be a cool mom I offered to take Iris to the new Justin Beber (sp?) movie, which was apparently hilarious enough to make Iris fall down on the floor with insane, gut busting laughter. Apparently that wasn’t the cool thing to say. Hey, a moms gotta try, right?
The girls have been in dance since last fall and their big recital was this past weekend. It was so endearing to see my little girls out there on the big stage. They all did a fantastic job and I was so proud of them.

Iris my big 10 year old. She’s hit the double digits.

Ruby is doing quite well in the Puklich household. She has been thoroughly checked out by the vet and is now completely healthy after treating an ear and bladder infection. She continues to go to work with Blayne every day, and go for long walks with Lisa every morning. Ruby fits right in – the chaos of 4 kids doesn’t seem to bother her at all, she loves Dez and the cats. We are so happy she is with us!

The big 4!! Preschool next Fall and big girl bikes! Four years ago I had my little five pounders and life changed completely. The first 9 months were such a blur, I wish I could go back as a rested and less overwhelmed person to live those newborn moments again. I’m so happy with how my girls are turning out. They are so different from each other. Tavie is quirky and brainy, Kira is caring and more physically coordinated. They are the best of friends and play together so well it’s unbelievable.
I am so proud of my beautiful girls and am so looking forward to our journeys together.

The sun did not shine. It was too cold to play. So we sat in the house all that cold, cold, cold day. What do you do with kids in Minnesota when it’s -10 out and you don’t want to leave the house? We dress up, we bake, we play hide and seek, we read, we do art projects, we play simon says with our stuffed animals, we make obstacle courses…..we drive our Mommy crazy a little bit, too.
We dream of warm days and beaches and bikes.

Oh February. We are in the thick of Winter and hibernation is in full swing. The twins have their 4th birthday this month. That will be fun. The gobs of snow that we’ve had this winter is now deeper than the mailboxes and I’m ready for Spring. Blayne named Gwenie Ruby and she is doing quite well. She loves our morning walks and I’m able to bring her further and further each morning. She does not do so great off leash when we are down at the lake (she likes to chase after deer or visit the ice-fishermen) but we are working on it. When we got her they said she wouldn’t play with toys or chew on bones (probably because she was never given the opportunity to do these things) but we’ve got her doing both now. I’d say that is a positive sign she is happy here.
Finnegan loves Thomas so much he has to use his train to eat his spaghetti. The boy is obsessed with trains.

The clean up.

The three stooges. This picture cracks me up because the kids all have the same look on their faces.

The girls are all in the Dance for Fun program at the Chanhassen Rec Center. They had their Winter Showcase this past weekend, which is a practice round for the big recital in the Spring. Everyone did a fantastic job. It was very cute!

Kira ready for her dance. She’s on the end. Tavie is hard to see in the gaggle of girls.
